In loving Memory of
Saviour Gafa

A Man of Simple Joys

Saviour Gafa was more than just a former soldier to his grandchildren—he was Nannu, the man who could fix anything and always had a smile on his face. His home was the heart of the family, where we gathered every Sunday for food, laughter, and stories. The old house, filled with the smell of freshly baked bread, held countless memories, with his military photo above the fireplace quietly reminding us of his past.

The Best Storyteller

As kids, we loved sitting at his feet, listening to his stories. He rarely talked about the battles he fought, focusing instead on the friends he made and the funny moments that brightened tough days. Our favorite stories were about his childhood—racing homemade boats in the harbor or sneaking into orchards to pick figs. These tales made him seem less like the soldier in the photo and more like the playful kid we could all relate to.

Fun Card Games

One of our favorite memories is playing card games with Nannu. Family game nights were always a highlight, with us sneaking little cheats to win. Nannu’s mock frustration and playful anger would always make us laugh. Those moments were filled with joy and his love for fun, showing us how much he enjoyed spending time with us.

A Lasting Legacy

As we grew older, we saw the true values Nannu Saviour had taught us—hard work, honesty, and the importance of family. His life was a lesson in itself, showing us that true strength isn’t just about being tough, but about being there for the people you love. Though his passing felt like the end of an era, his legacy continues in the stories, lessons, and love he left behind.
